A pair of “Legs” created by Larry Rivers has been stirring up a little controversy lately. The “Legs” stem (puns are intended) from a large mixed media construction called “40 Feet of Fashion” and have been displayed outside the Sag Harbor home of Janet Lehr and Vered (of Vered Gallery) for the past few years. The Village of Sag Harbor would like to see them walk away. Janet, Vered and many entertained fans of publicly displayed art would like to see them stay. The details of the arguments have been well documented. Listed below are links to recent articles about the “Legs”.

The Larry Rivers Foundation is seeking the return of Rivers’ “Syndics of the Drapery Guild as Dutch Masters,” which had been on loan to the Chelsea Hotel since about 1998. The hotel had previously displayed works by numerous renowned artists, but all of the artwork has been removed from the walls following the sale of the hotel to new owners.
